Ok, y is it that i cant get my 2000 pro cd to boot on an old ibm personal computer 300 pl. Not only that but it wont boot from an old 98 boot disk either...both work on my other computer. I dunno wats wrong. The two options dont work on all 7 of those computers i have. Is ibm just a bitch and made it so i cant install an os?

First, is the BIOS set to boot from CD?
Next, when's the last time the CD drive was cleaned?

Agreed, check your boot order. I've installed 2000 on numerous 300 GL's and PL's and never had a problem booting from the CD. One other consideration, if your system is set to boot to the CD in the BIOS.....your illegal copy of 2000 may not be an "el torito" (bootable) CD.

Lol i found the problem...for some reason all the jumpers were set all wacky, and one of the hard drives didnt work. So reset the jumpers to master and put in a new hd for the messed up one and wow all 7 booted and installed without a hitch...except for when i forgot to put a cd into the tray.
