I have XP installed on my laptop, i don't really like XP as i can't run websphere, etc programs. I like to install 2000 instead. When I tried to install with the 2000 Pro CD, It is saying windows 2000 is not campatible with the operating system you have. How can I install 2000 on XP?

Thank you!

Boot the laptop with the win2k CD. when it comes to the partitioning part, delete the XP install, create a new NTFS partition and continue the install normally.

You will need to set the CD rom to be your first boot device in the bios of your laptop. Check the owner's manual for bios or setup access. The original win2k cd is a bootable cd and should boot to the windows 2000 install menu. Read the instructions carefully choose the option to refromat the partition. Typically, laptops come with one partition (C:) when pre-loaded with winXP.
