If you upgrade from Win98 to 2000, there is a lot of junk left over from win98 that 2000 doesn't get rid of, and it just sits there taking up room on your hard disk. Therefore, I find it better to boot up from a floppy that has a cd rom driver on it, then do a quick format on the C: drive: Format C: /q /u (the U is for unconditional, which doesn't try to save any info for unformat). Then go to the i386 directory on the Win2000 CD rom and run winnt.exe.

It would be even easier to boot to the Windows 2000 CD and go through the installation procedure. That way you can delete your current partitions and resize as you wish. Select NTFS as the format type and away you go.
