Is it possible to install Win2k from Linux? I am wondering because I currently have WinME installed (dual boot) in case Win2k screws up bad and I have to reinstall it. However, I've been thinking of trying Linux so I figure if I remove ME and just put on Linux, it could do the same thing. (Also I don't have another HD for Linux.)

-Install Windows 2000.
-Install Virtual PC.
-Now install any OS you want and use it while you are using windows 2000.
It will work as if you are establishing a terminal session to another machine having a different OS.

You don't need Vitual PC.....
You will need to create two partitions for Linux and one for any version of Windows or DOS.
Set one partion active from FDISK and install and OS
Then set another partition as active from FDISK and install another OS
It's not good for switching back and forth all the time, but it works. When you want windows, set that partition active and reboot.
When you want Linux, set that partition active and reboot. If you have trouble setting the active partitions.....create a boot disk from win98 and boot from there and you'll always be able to set active partitions, no matter what OS you're running.

Do a search on google.com for:
installing Windows 2000 from Linux
or:
installing Windows 2000 after Linux
and you'll get a fair amount of input from assorted Linux resources/sites.
Popular wisdom (out there in google-land) seems to be that it is better install Linux first; or at least prepare the HD in advance for both OS; although there are ways to reverse the order.
http://www.windows2000faq.com - installations section - has a how to install W2K and Linux (also NT4 and Linux), but presumes/prefers that W2K be first in...
Also what about the Linux forum here?

I'm pretty sure I could install Linux from Win2k but I was just wondering if it's possible to install Win2k from Linux in case 2k crashes bad and needs a reinstall. I currently use WinME for this but I want to try Linux.
