I'm running windows 2000 pro and I need to install the Windows Genuine Advantage plug-in for Firefox 3 to validated on Microsoft's download site, but it will only install on XP or vista but I've been told that there is a way to manually configure Firefox 3 to use the plug-in in windows 2000 after extracting it and copying the appropriate files to the right folder locations which I have copied the files as instructed but then on the manual configuration I can't find a clear enough method of instruction to do it myself, does anyone know how to do it, Please help.. Anyway somewhere on the internet I was told that you can do this with Firefox under windows 2000, but I can't find it at the moment.

I don't want to disable WGA all my windows are legally obtained I just want to install the Plugin for fire fox 3, so I can download updates from Microsoft that require validation before downloading, But I guess I can still use internet explorer to get those. Thanks anyway.

Thats alot of meandering for no real reason. Just use IE. Im not sure if that plugin project even exists anymore. I used it once before and it was extremely flaky. More agro than what its worth just for a cosmetic job.

"I have SP2 SP3 SP4 if you need 'em." Really why I ask is I've been thinking 2014 is fast approaching, means Microsoft is soon going to cut off the windows XP branch of windows. That may include windows 2000. And we have http://oldfiles.org.uk/lightspeed/m... for windows 3.x an 9x, but no reference page for NT 2k XP. And I believe that even Vista is part of the XP branch an just like ME that came out after 98 Vista my be cut off as well with XP. So well I kind of wanted to start a reference page myself so people can still get updates, security fixes, and downloads long after Microsoft cuts us off yet again.. My problem is I don't have the time, and something on that scale with windows 2k 2k3 XP Vista would take a group effort.. I probably couldn't handle it myself but I want to get the idea out there anyway.. On the other thing I know I'm a pain but I dare to do the impossible, and I found my link that tells you how to do it with windows 2k and fire fox 3 but it is very complicated to setup and probably not worth the hassle. Support for windows 98/ME ended in 2006 Support for windows 2000 will end in 2010 Support for windows XP will end in 2014 So not long to go until windows 2000 is a legacy OS
