Install strange????

after installing 2000 w/SP3 I try to install avg, SP4 and blackice. Well after reboot it goes as far as the windows 2000 logo but once the bar gets to the end it reboots. Also I can't save any display settings ( a 3dfx banshee card ). It seems no matter what I install it gets the same results. I am going to run gwscan in the morning but dont know if thats going to show any results... maybe. I have a funny feeling it may need a BIOS upgrade .... any suggestions?

SP4 is known to act strangely on some PCs. Just like SP2 for XP.
I suspect it's the SP4's fault. Maybe you could try booting with recovery (Win2K cd inside)...

Did you reboot between installating SP 4 and Blackice? I learned the hard way it's best to reboot before installing any program after a service pack. I've installed SP4 on serveral different computers and have never encountered any problems.

I have also installed SP4 (followed by AVG) on several PCs with no problems. Can you boot up in safe mode? If you can, uninstall Black Ice and AVG to try and pin point exactly what is causing the problem.
