I have a blank formatted drive on a laptop and I would like to install an OS. The floppy works and I also have a Iomega Zip100 drive. I have copies of W98SE, W2K-Pro, and WXP-Pro. I also have a W98 startup disk.

I believe your only other choices are:
1.) Copy contents of CD-ROM to it's own partition on the hard drive. Run setup from the hard drive.
2.) Run a network installation
3.) Get a parralel port CD-ROM. I think *some* USB CD-ROMs will work as well.

If you choose option 1, you need only copy the win98 folder over to the hard drive, or if setting up 2k, the i386 folder

I tried no. 1 and 2. The problems Ive encountered are the following.
For no. 1 I copied the i386 folder to the hard drive. my hard drive is in FAT16. after the dos part of the installation (which is the copying of the system files to the hard disk) and the rebooting, i cant boot the next part of the installation which is supposed to happen when the BIOS will access the hard disk and look for the booting file. im not sure of what im saying.
2. it does the same, copy system files to the hard disk but again wont boot, the displayed error message is NO OPERATING SYSTEM.
im using the IBM transnote laptop. i need help, thanks.
