Are you trying to install 2000 on the boot drive? Regardless, I belive it is simple-just boot from the install cd and follow the prompts.

Boot up with the Win 98 boot disk...with cdrom support............then to the i386 folder on the cd. Type winnt.exe to start the setup. You will want to put smartdrv.exe from your Windows 98 cd on the floppy. Before you run winnt.exe type smartdrv.exe from the floppy drive to load smartdrv into memory. Otherwise it will take hours to install Windows 2000 from dos.

If your bios allows a CD boot then set it to that option; then boot from the W2K CD and install W2K that way?

Other options; using another PC use the "make bootdisk util" on the W2K CD to make the 4 set-up floppies; then use these to install W2K to your new drive?

Otherwise you can download an assortment of boot-disks (including W2K) at:

Naturally you go for the W2K set and use these to install W2K?
