instal win2k from CD only.

Both the complete Windows 2000 install CD and the upgrade CD are bootable. Do you have the CD set in the BIOS as the first device to check in the boot order?

Even if you have the cd as the first bootable item you still have to hit the enter key when it shows boot from cd. If you don't it goes on to the next item like floppy or hard drive. Watch the bottom of your screen when it starts to boot up.

To add to landon's comments, you need to be diligent. You only have a short time to hit any key to boot from the CD when the screen appears.

One more thing, during install, it will reboot and you'll see again that note saying hit a key to boot from CD-Rom but don't do it that time because it would start over again the whole install. Just let it continue its install process.
