I have a ECS 57S5A Socket A motherboard, AMD Athlon xp 2100/266 MHz processor and 512 DDR PC2700 333AHz ram. The bios is reading it as 1500 processor. Exactly how do I change it and why does it not read it correctly. I tried to up the CPU speed. At the moment when I am in the bios it won't let me use the arrow keys at all. It was working fine last week. Why is it so unstable?

Are there any jumpers on the motherboard for setting the clock speed or is it all handled through the BIOS?

I think there is a jumper setting on the MOB. I thought it just cleared the CMOS though.

I had the same issue when i built my own system recently.
On my Gigabyte motherboard there was a on/off switch to choose the motherboard speeds, if set for a slower speed it will limit your overall system's speed. My AMD 2200 was showing up as 1500, till i flicked the jumper switch. Check your motherboards web site for specs, and jumper locations!!
