Today, 6 months after building my computer, I suddenly can't boot up. Every time I do, I get a "inaccessible_boot_device" stop error. Any suggestions? The system has been rock solid for the 6 months that I have had it. I have 2 seagate barracuda's on this machine. The machine uses a ECS K7S5A motherboard, and is NOT overclocked. I have seen several suggestions for this problem, but none seemed to be applicable as I have been using this system for a while without any trouble.

thanks

If you have not tried Win2000 Repair using your Win2000 Installation CD's Setup , try that.

Otherwise tell us what were the "several suggestions" you thought were "not applicable" to your situation based on the information about your system so that someone can suggest other alternatives.

Hi,

Most of the suggestions I have seen have had to do with Roxio Easy CD creator or with hard drive/UDMA incompatibilities with win2k. In almost all cases the problem has occured during installation or after some changes to the system, which is not exactly my situation. I will try win2000 repair, but wanted to ask some questions here before I did that.

thanks

Well, i take it you have a descent graphics card. When i installed win2000 i got the same error and it was due to my graphics card belive it or not. Boot up in debugging mode then reinstall an updated driver.. fixed me.
