Hi all,
we have a strange problem since we have installed ASP.NET on our IIS5, and apply security patch from windows update.
After installed all of that,at reboot we got a blue screen and an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error.

We can reboot if we boot on the windows 2000 CD install, reparation, console.
We do a fsckdsk /r, and after that we can reboot, but all right on the C: partiton (NTFS) are lost, even SYSTEM and administrator have NO right on it.
The problem is if we put the default right on C:, at the next reboot we got an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE_ERROR again....

We have NAV 2001 CE installed on this server, no virus were found (with lastest signature).

Anyone has an idea?????

I had such an error in W2k about 4 weeks ago.

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Surfed the net for days before finding the solution. This is what I did:
Put in the bootable windows 2000 CD, (take care to choose in CMOS booting from CD-ROM, if it doesn't start up and you have 2 CD-ROMS, choose the other ;-P). Install asks if I wanted to repair. I said OK. It did "something" for a while and afterwards all was well again. Has been 4 weeks, and system still runs smoothly.

If this doesn't bring the solution, take a look at following URL:

Okay, first of all I haven't read all the replies in this thread, so I don't know if someone already said what I'm saying...

I had the same problem with win2k that all of you seem to have. Here's what I did:

I booted from the win2k cd and chose to repair my installation, then chose the repair console. now, as soon as I was logged on, I typed "fixmsb" which means "Fix Master Boot Sector." It prompted me with a warning, I chose to proceed, and it worked.

I hope this can help some of you out there.
End of message from that URL.
