We are using a program which launches Internet Explorer to view a specified image. We use it on several computers and have never had issues. On this particular computer, however, Internet Explorer will launch successfully the first time and the image will be displayed. Subsequent attempts to load an image will lock-up the computer for approx 30 seconds before Internet Explorer will finally open and the image will process to open normally. After some research, I discovered that the IEXPLORE.exe process is not ending after the browser window is closed. It remains in the processes list in the taskbar. If I kill the process manually, my next attempt to load an image will proceed normally. Again, if I close the window and try to load another one, the lock-up/delay will persist, unless I again manually kill the process first. Does anyone have any ideas why the iexplore.exe process is sticking around after the browser is closed? I have never seen this problem on any other computer. It may also be helpful to note that Internet Explorer loads KODAKIMG.exe to view images, which are in TIFF format. The KODAKIMG process is ending normally after the browser is closed. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it (though that still doesn't explain why it happens on only this computer)???

Please note also that this problem is only occurring when the IE browser is launched from within this program and opens an image. It does not happen when launched by itself to browse the web. Please also note that I have reinstalled the medical records program which launches the browser and have added all the latest IE 6 SP1 service packs to the browser.

If I understand, you wanna only open ".tiff" images?
If the answer is yes then try a free tool like ACDSee

I agree with Yantseu.
Don't open images in your browser for viewing. Get a great program like ACDSee (download it) and let it change your settings to view all image types.
It is the best program I've seen to handle image viewing. The best.
