Comment: For some reason, my Internet Explorer 5.5 no longer downloads/streams Quicktime files. It used to, but now it doesn't. I have reinstalled IE 5.5, Win2K's SP 2, and even Quicktime 5.0.2. I don't get any sort of error message or anything -- it just doesn't download and/or play. (All existing QT files on my system play just fine.) Suggestions?? Thanks.... Jon.

Reply: (edit)I think the reason might be because when you installed QuickTime you told it to play the associated file, instead of Internet Explorer.
If that's not it, check the Advanced tab under you Internet Explorer Options in the Tools menu and make sur everything you might need is enabled......

Sorry to inform you that Internet Explorer no longer supports Quicktime, therefore IE5.5 and later will not do what you are trying to do. I recently installed IE6 and am very disappointed with Bill for this one. So don't worry your system is fine, its Microsoft's fault.

Reply: (edit)IE since service pack 2 for IE 5.5 has dropped support for netscape style plug-ins. They want users and develepors to use more ActiveX it's part of thier war with Sun Microsystems and Java. Apple fron what I've heard is working a fix for Quicktime and they will have a working version out in the near future, be on the look out for it.
