I'm running TS on a Windows 2000 Server (that's part of an NT4 domain) and have a problem with my clients being disconnected after only 8 mins of idle time.

I've set "override user settings" in Terminal Services Configuration and set the Idle Session Limit to "Never"

This would appear to be the way to control the idle timeout but it doesn't work.

I've got sp3 installed and have activated my licences etc.

Any ideas anyone (and please don't tell me to try microsoft help!!)

Sup Man, I'm running the same setup... A 2000 server, running TS, on an NT4 domain... And it works beautifully... The only I'm not doing like you, is running SP3. I've read horror stories up and down, down and up, about that Service pack... That just might be your problem... I'm running SP2, and it's pretty secure...

I'm guessing your running a licensing server, and it's serparate box... I know some people try to run the license server on the same box, and they end up having problems...

Yeah, I'm running the whole shebang on one server - I had to put sp3 on to reactivate my licences...maybe I could try moving the licencing server to another server.

The way I got around the problem (although I'm not keen on it) was to create local accounts on the TS server and have them log onto the local machine as opposed to the domain.

I'm hopeing the problem will go away when I upgrade the client to w2k active directory in the next few months - but that'll probibly just open up another can of worms!!
