I just fresh installed win2k on my machine. It is a dual p2 333 on a Tyan Thunder II board (intel chipset) running dual scsi hard drives and a single ide. It also uses a elsa erazor 3 32mb video card.
What i wanted to do was set uo dual-booting. The tech articles I have read said install win98 first, then 2k will pick up and set up dual booting automatically. I did, it worked. However, while everything functions just peachy under 98, in 2k it will not detect the ide drive properly (the os's were installed one on each scsi drive). On top of that I am limited to the default VGA resolution of 640 x 480 16 colors (or 800 x 600). All it lists under the adapter properties is VgaSave and will not let me change adapters. Elsewhere vgasave is not mentioned, and in device manager, it sees my video card but give a code 10 error - device cannot be started.
So far, I have downloaded nvidia reference drivers as well as elsa drivers. I picked through my bios and then reset its functions with no settings working. I have tweaked and prodded everything I could find in 2k and even blanked and reloaded it a few times. I have looked for code 10 errors, vga save, and through video problems on microsoft's technet, and still found nothing. I also know it's not related to my motherboard or dual processing or dual booting, as there are other's i've seen with single os, single processor rigs having the same problem. Hope that narrows it for you because I'm at a major loss as to what to do next.
Thanks in advance. :-)
