Hi, I an running Win2K Pro without SP1. My problem is trying to get ICQ 2000b to work in a "power user" account in win2k. I have it working in "admin" account, but other accounts I get a runtime error that states,
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
"x Runtime Error! "
"Program D:\....\Icq.exe "
"abnormal program termination "
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Could someone please help me solve this problem step by step and make it work!

Thanks in advance!
Ray

if you get this problem solve already, please let me know. if not, here's my solution, it kind of work for me right now.

I got the same error with icq yesterday while I setup my network at home, so I kind of look around for help and tried to play with it myself. I kind of get it to run under 3 different win2k account.

By the way, I am very new to win2k and the network stuff, I just got all my stuff this past week and still playing and learning, so follow at your own risks.....

I guess I probably do what you do at first, install ICQ under administrator account, set ICQ up, then run ICQ under other account end up with that error.

Here is what I do after, I just change the user account that run ICQ to 'administrator' group. Login as those user, install ICQ again, with same directory and everything the same. (It can't install if it is 'power user' group) After install is done, set it up, register your icq number, etc......and I don't think you can have two different win2k user have the same icq number....it kind of mess it up......

After you are done with all the user who want ICQ, go back to administrator account, change those user back to 'power user' group(it give me some new error if you change it to just plain 'user' group when running icq)

and that's it, it kind of running ok for me, don't know if it's stable. Well, that's all I think I did. If you find out some better way, let me know.

oh, I am using Win2k Pro with SP1 and all those stuff from Windows Update. I plan to have a 3 PC network at home, have all hooked up right now, but only one computer has installed win2k, other two still empty.
