Comment:

My friend has an IBM Aptiva 2158 (I think) which we recently updated from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 Pro.
All is working fine except the modem which used to work fine. It was automatically installed as 'GVC 1156IV+ International Model' with Microsoft drivers.
The problem is that whenever you want to dial up, you have to pick up the phone or it will time-out or occasionally reboot.
We have tried updating the drivers to the latest but that didn't help.

Has anyone got any idea what might help?
