Hello!
I don't log onto any domain.
I just log on locally on my desktop. If I click on Administation tools->Local sequrity principle->Account principle->
password principle and here click on principle "password must fulfil requirement
for complexity" I can see the following.
The actual principle settings is activated and the local principle settings is inactivated. Here I can't change the actual principle settings because the field is disabled. So how do I change the actual principle settings to inactivated for "password must fulfil requirement for complexity".//Tony

Don't you mean Local Security Policy? So the Local Setting and Effective Settings are Enabled? Are you logging in with an Administrator account? Were you on a Domain at one point?

Hello!
Yes I mean Local sequrity Policy? This Local sequrity principle was a just a translation from Swedish. No as I wrote local settings is disabled but effective settings is enabled. I want to disable the effective settings but that field is read only. Yes I log in as Administrator account. I have also used the same computer but logged in to a domain with another username ansd password.
But now in this specific problem to disable the effective settings for password complexity I don't use a domain I just log in local to the computer using the Administrator account.//Tony

The computer has picked up the Domain Policies. Other questions have been posted here regarding disabling policies from a previous Domain connection.
You could Google, or look on MS's website. If you're no longer connecting to the Work network (for whatever reason), I'd recommend a reload.
Keep in mind though, that if this is a work computer, you shouldn't attempt to circumvent the Domain Policies, as this isn't your property.

Hello!
If I look at the setting for the domain
for the password complexity I can see that this is disabled. The domain controller is running Windows server 2003.So how can I have the password compexity enabled for effective when the domain has disabled this.

You said in your previous post that the Complexity requirement was enabled in the Effective Policy. Now you're saying it is disabled.
You're better off checking with your DA and and not trying to change Policies. A gpupdate force will work, but only if you're authenticating to the Domain.

This is getting confusing!
Is this a computer that you personally own, sitting in our home?
...or is this a computer at your office, owned by the company you work for?
