After doing a system check I have found out that I have an 80GB hard drive.
However the only drive that is listed in the control panel is C at only 40GB.
How can I use this other 40GB.

The rest of the space may not be partitioned. Goto the desktop within Win 2k, right click my computer, choose manage, then disk managament, and you should see your current parition and extra space that looks seperate. Right click on it and choose create, create an extended partition, assign it a drive letter, then you will see it.

If you still need help, email me directly.

You don't have to create an extended but can create a primary partition with the rest of the drive.

Question is do you see 40gigs of unpartitioned space?

Where did you get the info from, that says you have a 80gig drive?

Wanderer, I found the info when I ran Belarc Advisor.
Chris thanks for the help I'll get right to it.
Question to both of you, what is the difference between a primary & extended partition.

Ok chris followed your advice, thanks.
The D drive was listed under the column heading "Partition" it said "Basic".
However under "file system" column there was nothing. Under column heading "file system" for the C Drive it said "NTFS".

the primary part is the one were you put windows2k on so the root files. the extended one is were you put data on and/or use to get advantage of DFS, spawn volumes etc.

Does anyone have any idea what I do next. It appears that the drive has been partioned as the D drive was listed but as detailed above it does not show up on "My computer".
Under disk management the D drive does not appear to have a file system. Under the column heading "file system" for the D drive there is nothing listed.
Any ideas anyone?

Yuffy, the drive has been partitioned but has it been formatted? If not you will need to format D: (NTFS) and it should become available for you to use.
