There is no comparison! Me is a bloated win98 system running on fat16 or 32 and win2k is built on the nt kernel which can run on ntfs for more file security. Me was windows earlier attempt at XP.

They are definitely NOT the same. I have both OS'es on my computer (P3-500, 512 MB). You should see the difference in performance. 2000 runs very fast, ME runs slow.

Windows ME, as Jacko said, was the next step in the Windows 95-98 line, but was quickly overshadowed by XP Home edition.
Windows 2000 is the latest version of Windows NT, which is more targeted to business use.

XP is the Latest in the Windows NT line. The Windows 9x line died with ME.

no no I'm talking about the NAME of the operating systems, not the "build" of the systems!

The turn of the century is 2001, not 2000, so ME and 2000 are not the same name.
Home: 95-98-98se and then ME Pro: NT and then 2000?
Why did MS decide to swap the naming process? Me should have been 2000 and 2000 should have been ME :).
They fixed that mistake by naming them both XP.
Now i can sleep.

so Joe your saying windows ME is a newer operating system than y2k2000?
Technically the new centery begins in 2001 cause 0 has no value!
But why did we celebrate the millinium on the 2000 new year? Shouldn't it be 2001?
This still leaves the question "up in the air"

Yes JohnOS
Of-course the new Millenium really started in Jan 01, because there was no year 0.
Why did we celebrate it early? Dunno, for some reason us humans just love lot's of noughts.
.... BUT what about all those Emperors who monkied with the calander. Maybe the new Millenium went years before, or is due any time....
.... BUT suppose we had been blessed with 12 fingers (or some other number) and our numbering system had therefore been different....

If you notice when you try to put win 2k on over win ME it won't work. Win ME considers it to be a down grade I believe. So wouldn't it be that windows 2k should have came out before ME?
God dawm microsoft is confusing me "Computers are like air conditionners, they stop working properly when you open windows"
