I have a HP DEKJET 670C Deskjet Printer. When I give the print command it does not print anything. I get a message 'THERE WAS AN ERROR PRINTING THE DOCUMENT. THE DEVICE IS NOT CONNECTED'. I get the error message when trying to print from Notepad, Outlook or any other application.I tried enabling and disabling the printer drivers from device manager..and restarted the machine..the problem still persists.

Is the printer seen in the printer folder? Does it print a test page from the printer properties? How is it connected?

It does not print a test page. The paper feed indicator keeps blinking. The printer is seen in the printer folder. It is connected by one cable to the CPU and other to the main power. I checked both the connections and they seem fine. Should I try uninstalling and re-installing the printer driver? Please advice.

When I asked how it was connected, I meant was it USB or parrellel port?
You can try reintalling it but I would first go to the properties of the printer and look under the ports tab. If it's connected by USB, is a USB port checked? If it is, try configure port. If it's not try add port. If you have a parrellel port cable, try that instead of USB or visa versa.

It's a parallel port printer. Under configure port, the transmission retry is set to 90 secs. I checked the cable connections. They are fine.I think the printer has to be serviced.

The printer driver may be corrupt.
If I remember correctly, the HP500/550 series drivers will work under Win2K for this printer.

Mine's OK its printer drives comes + W2K. 1 cannot use old W9* 1s. Can you print a printers' test page by holding `paper' button when switching on?

Summary: You may wish to consider setting a printer as default then attempting to print. If you don't have a default printer notepad usually won't print anything or ask for a printer. One other thing, since I...
