I've got a Pentium III 1GHz with Windows 2000 professional. Partition is: FAT32.
The problems begun when I connected the HP4400c
Scanjet scanner using a USB and installed
all the software in the attached HP CD, including the HP precisionscan Pro 3.1.In the first time: Installation was perfect, I could scan few photos using the precisionscan.
But after a while, the computer stacked.
When I reset the computer it started a disk check.
It found few inaccessible files, and ended with a blue screen with some error I didn't wrote on, unfortunately.
It happened also after I disconnected the scanner. After few times I didn't get the blue screen anymore, it just didn't complete the disk check...
However, I could skip the disk check and login.
So I uninstalled all the HP software, and then installed Norton Utilities and solved all
the disk errors.
Most of those errors were of Entirely Inaccessible folders or Bad Cluster.In that stage, I wasn't sure the problems have any connection to the scanner...
So, I installed the HP software again and reconnected the scanner.
This time, during the first scan I did using the
HP precisionscan, the computer get stacked again.
After a reset it started a disk check with the
following message:STOP: 0x0000007A (0xc02fff0c, 0xbffc36b4, 0x18f0e860)
KERNEL_DATA_IN_PAGE_ERROR
Address bffc36b4 BASE AT bffbb000,
Date stamp 38399b37 - ftdisk.sys
Beginning dump of physical disk.after a while, I've got a blue screen with the following message:
STOP: c000021a Unknown Hard Error
When I tried to skip the disk check, it couldn't
log in and asked for system CD. I didn't try it yet.2 Questions:
============
- How could I login to the W2K and save the disk,
using the system disk?
- How could I fix the problem caused by the HP4400c Scanjet? Are there any updates to W2K or
to HP4400c drivers or software?
Is it a known problem?Thank You Very Much!
