I updated my system from Win 98 to 2000 pro. I managed to download the driver for my 9 year old hp Laserjet 4L...BUT everytime I try to print my printer tells me its OUT OF PAPER. Well. its got plenty of paper. I tried everything. Any ideas? HELP!!!

Possibly it is too old to be compatible with windows 2000. Get a new printer. you can find em as low as 39 bucks in stores for HPs.

I don't know Christian, do you really think you can find an HP laserjet for $39.00?
Marsha, I have a LaserJet 6L and it works flawlessly. When I switched from 98 to 2000 a couple years back I just went to HP's site and downloaded the Windows 2000 Driver for my HP laserjet. Are you sure you downloaded the latest 2000 version for your printer?
I recommend going back to HP's site and looking for a 2000 version of the driver for your printer. Then when you have it downloaded and ready to install, uninistall the present printer on your system and then reinstall using the new version of the drivers.

I have no trouble using my old HP 4L with Win 2000 Professional. Been using them together for almost a year and the 4L performs exactly as it did with Win 98. Try downloading a new driver.

I upgraded from 98 to w2kpro best move i ever made i also run a laserjet 4L and a deskjet 840c on usb and have no problems whatsoever unlike 98 in which neither printer worked Go to hp website and get new driver it worked for me hope this helped
