Hi.
I've already read through the support pages at hp.com and also found some useful information about W2K and HP LJ1100 printing problems, but nothing solved the problem, so maybe you can help me.
I'm using a HP1100 connected to a local LPT1 port on a w2k machine, and local printing works fine. But I also want to print from the NT4 Terminal Server (SP4), because otherwise this w2k workstation makes no sense. ;) I've also two other HP1100 printers connected to Win98/ME machines, which works really fine, local or over the network.
But when I try to print to the HP1100 connected on the W2k machine, the print job gets spooled, but the printer only prints garbaged text. When I try to print from the Terminal Server Account, the server occasionally even hangs !!
I've already tried the newest W2k drivers from HP, the original drivers that came with the printer, re-installed them, re-shared and re-connected the printers, no result.
Maybe anyone of you can help me !
Thanks in advance,
Frounz

According to the data about the HP 1100 laser printer, only NT 4.0 is supported. I could not find anything specifically stating Win2K support.
Contact customer support.
Good Luck!

Hi.
The Printer itself works peferctly when printing from the w2k-machine to the locally connected HP1100. BUT printing over the network on this printer shared by the W2k-machine doesn't work.
Sorry, I think I forgot that... ;)

Permissions are correct, and the remote print job appears in the spooler for just a moment, then the printer prints out garbled text, and that's all. And like I said, local printing on the W2K machine works fine... just the remote print jobs don't work....
Any hints ?

If you are printing from an NT 4 machine, make sure that you have the NT 4 printer drivers installed on that computer, and the Win 2K ones installed on the Win2K computer. Each system will have to have the correct drivers for this to work. I have a HP4 with Win2K and Win98 and it works fine. Can't print to it from my Mac G3 though, as there's no Mac drivers for HP4. Pages from the Mac come out garbled as the Mac drivers are incorrect. Hope this helps.

HI.
Guess what ? I've solved the problem. Everything works out fine when connecting the shared printer with a 'net use' command on the nt4-machine with a local port.
'net use LPT3: \\pc08\hp1100' and installing a local printer on the n4-machine works out perfectly well.
Thanks for your help,
Frounz
