Comment: Hi! Can someone help me how to uninstall window 2000 Pro from my PC? I really have a hard time on this. Many of my software including my printer does not support with window 2000. I thought this is just a upgrade of 98, but actually, it is NT. My PC does not support NT. I really appreciate if you can help me on this. If not, can you help me how to format the hard drive so I can reinstall window 98 back? Thanks very much

Reply: (edit)Jacky, Did you purchase your copy of W2KP? If you purchased it, did you know that you can call Microsoft, register your copy, and then get free support for 90 days? I heard that they have been working on an uninstall for those that did an upgrade from Win98. How big is your hard drive? Are you familiar with dual booting? You can set up your system to boot up in either Win98 or 2000. But if you installed W2KP as an upgrade on top of Win98, I'd try giving Microsoft a call first. Otherwise, you will have to reformat, reinstall Win98, and reinstall all of your applications.

Reply: (edit)There is one undocumented option that you can use during the install process. when the screen tells you to hit "F6" to add additional drivers you can hit "F7" to force Windows 2000 to install in APM mode which will work much better with most older systems. Short of getting a program from Microsoft to go back to Win98 all you can do is boot into dos and delete the Winnt directory or the "Windows" directory if you did an upgrade. good luck
