how can i change the IRQ setting for either my sound card or my video card. they both are sharing the same resource and i think that is causing a conflict with my computer. that my be why i cant play any games. does this sound like it maybe the problem, if so, how do i change it?

Assuming there is a conflict in the irq's, go to control panel, system, click on the hardware tab, click on device manager, hilight the device, right click and go to properties, and hit the resources tab. I'm not sure about yours, but with most of my devices, it shows automatic configuration and it's greyed out so I can't change the settings.
In device manager, see if the sound or the video hardware has a yellow exclamation mark on it. If so, there is a problem with it and properties will show what the problem is.
Good luck.

mines greyed out too. i cant change them in there. ti doesnt show that theres a conflict. but its only when im playing games. it would only show that theres a conflict when a conflict arises. but then my computer freezes and i cant check it. is there another way?

Do you mean your video and sound works otherwise and you only have problems with games?
If so, then I wonder whether your video card meets the requirements for your game(s).
Suggestions:
- download and install the latest version of directx.
- install the latest drivers for your video and sound cardsTry those for now.

ATI All In Wounder 8500LE, 128MB DDR Ram, directX9, all currents drivers for both sound card and video card. ive posted this before, half way down page 2, "cant do gaming". my friend had this problem on his comp, he had win xp pro. he down graded to win xp home, that is allocated his video card and sound card different IRQ's and it works fine now. so i just need to know how to change them. i already checked my BIOS, cant do it in there. I did the device manager, and now im checking in the System Information. everything i do, its always greyed out and cant be changed. what am i missing? or is there a special way to do it?
