I have five computers in a peer to peer setup which are connected to a hub and a router which is also a DHCP, gateway and all. All computers have staic ip now. I want to log onto my LAN at work from my home which has a regular dial up access to isp.

The computer i am trying to connect to at work has Windows 2K Pro and also the one at home too. I have made a connection called allow incoming calls on the work computer. The home computer has the connect to vpn made.

That's all i have done so far and i can't get in... do I call my work computer using modem to modem communication or log onto internet.... If I log onto internet then how do I find out the host address of my work computer????? ...it asks for it at setup. Would it be my WAN ip address that the isp at work has given me? I think that's my main question.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I'd like to know how as well. I'm trying to defeat a firewall that was installed on my apartment's ethernet system. I can't set up any sort of server because of NAT.

I have a few computers at work running Win 2k. I'd like to set up a VPN server on one so I can connect from home and set up servers there (at home).

Could anyone please help?

In both of your guys situations you'd have to configure the NAT router. On the router if you have access to change it's settings, you could have servers on the inside by specifying a port that the server will use. Some routers like the Linksys BEFSR Series, you can make a whole computer stick out into the internet by putting it in a DMZ zone, by doing that you could run any amount of server services on it, however that computer would need its own form of security. So for Johnathan you'd have to talk to the apartment sys admin and for Phil it depends on your router and permissions.

I have 2 computers behind my Linksys router. I set up my main comp to accept logins via the net. I set up accounts on my 2k Pro for a few friends. They create connetions to my VPN and use their logins. They both get messages like "Can't agree on PPP conection." I have my Box in the DMZ. How can I get the connection to work properly?
