I have some issues with IE that I can't resolve. (1) It won't recognize my custom 404 error page (as directed via .htaccess) and (2) It keeps reporting script errors when I use my web site's search (I use West Side Story).
These problems are only with my copy of IE, anyone else accessing my web site with IE has no problem.
I'd like to just dump my copy entirely, and reload from scratch.
I realize this is probably a stupid question but, should I just uninstall my IE copy (using the add/remove programs in control panel) and then redownload it from Microsoft?
Mine came with the computer with Windows 2000.
Or should I just download it again without uninstalling the current version. If for example I try to download the same version (to replace the current one) will it do that?
I already have version 6.0.2800 of IE
and SP(4), I think that's basically whats available anyway........ would it overwrite what I have, or just do nothing?Joe Hussar

It's not possible to uninstall IE. Have you tried running an IE Repair? Does this problem happen with all users on your computer, or just your normal login account?

Hi........
Thanks for the reply. I am the only user.
I'm not sure how to "run an IE repair".
However, I used IE search for "repair" and a help instruction came up the on uninstalling IE ? Maybe I should try that.

The repair function can be accessed via the uninstall menu in add/remove
IE is pretty thoroughly integrated into Windows, by design - supposedly it can be removed (kind of) using a third party app, generally, uninstalling on a machine through the add/remove menu just reverts you to an earlier version
Regardless, you can install and use whatever (or however many) browsers you want, such as Firefox, Netscape or Opera etc
