Right click 'my computer' and select properties. Then select 'advanced' from the tab on the top followed by 'start up options'.
YOu can then remove the option for XP by simply unchecking the 'show list of operating systems for..' box (make sure 2000 is set as the default OS!).

Would have been best to do a clean install from scratch.

Do a full reformat before the fresh install and you won't see that problem.

Ok bud here we go down and dirty, go to bootdisk.com download a 98se boot disk image
create a bootdisk from the image file to a floppy, set your BIOS to boot from a floppy at the a: prompt type
format c: press enter .... done
after that remove the floppy powerdown then back on change BIOS back to boot from CD or "floppy" if your going to use the 4 floppy disk method and do a install onto a fresh formated empty drive........HTH

p.s. every thing here should work as long as the drive is not larger than 130gig

Keep the old stuff running

Hi....By mistake I got Windows XP Prof. installed two times on two dfferent partitions. Besides this I also have Windows 2000 Prof. installed on another partition.

My requirement is of only on instance each of Windows 2000 & Windows XP i.e. I need to get one Windows XP installation gone alongwith its entry from OS Choice Menu.

I tried formatting one of the WinXP partitions thinking its entry would also get deleted. Unfortunately, this step didn't helped as while one partition remains empty its entry is very much there in OS choices.

I want to have entry for only 2 OS & that'll be Win2000 & WinXP. How do I get rid of this third entry only that has appeared by mistake & is not going off now.

Looking forward to some replies soon.

Thanks in anticipation to all responders for my problem.

I recommend getting Partition Magic 8.0, as I JUST finished going through the same thing as you. Partition Magic lists all your logical and otherwise partitions, and allows you to delete the ones you don't need/resize them/create new ones and all that good stuff. I'm not exactly sure where you can get it, but I have a free trial version, so if you can't find it email me and I'll send it to you.
