Comment:

I installed win 2000 Pro on top of win2000 servers on C: bootable Drive.
Now I get an dual boot option of win2000 pro
or Win2000 Server.
How can I remove win2000 Pro (1st boot option) without affecting win2000 Server.
Note: C: drive is 1GB and D: is Extended Drive of 7 GB.

edit the boot.ini file
it should be located on C:\boot.ini
you can use notepad to remove it, there should be a line that says windows 2000 profesional in it, remove the entire line. or if you want to be safe, put a semicolon (;) infront of it

Thanks, I will try on Monday at work.
Also If I want to delete Win2000 Pro how would I do that??
because as I know both Win2000 Pro dir and Win2000 Server are installed C:\WINNT dir or not!!

I want to be sure not to delete the win2k server dir by mistake.as both boot from C:\WINNT correct...
Thanks

If both Pro and Server in same (c: ) drive/partition and Pro was in first, its (default) folder name (on the c: partition/drive) will be winnt; and thus Server's folder (which went after Pro) should be windows - as Pro is already using winnt. But that's not likely here as I doubt your c: partition would not be large enough for both versions of W2K.

If each in its own partition then each version of W2K will be in as winnt (unless you changed the offered default during installation).

Is Pro in c: , and Server in Extended (d: ) partition?

To clarify: post details of boot.ini as is now - before editing it...; also post details of the names of two folders (Pro and Server installations) and where they are on the drive.

If each in its own partition it's simple to identify which is which in the boot.ini, and to know which folder etc. to delete from the drive.

I will definitely post the Boot.ini
tomorrow before I do any changes.

Actually win2000 Server was installed first
then I installed win2k Pro later from CD install.
I will let you know either way.
