I had a virus yesterday (Worm_yaha.e), which changes the registry. I fixed it by renaming regedit.exe to regedit.com and was able to repair the values. But I was wondering, is there a way to change the reg outsinde Windows? I booted from the bootdisks (takes ages) but I couldn't find a program to edit the reg. I am just curious.
Uh...have you guys missed the Remote Registry Service available and probably even enabled if you didn't shut it off in Admin Tools -> Services. It's description says it all, "Allows remote registry manipulation." Now gieven that don't ask me what lese you need in order to actually do this as I have never tried.

Check out this site: http://www.winternals.com, they have a very usefull utility called ERD Commander 2002. I will allow you to boot from a CD edit the registry, start and stop services, reset forgotten passwords and a whole lot more. This saved me a lot of headache when i had unbootable machines. Good luck.
