Can anyone give me some tips or point me to a resource that can help me reduce the footprint on Win2k on my c:\ drive? Right now its using 992 MB on a 1 GB partition. Very tight. Before I have to blow out the partition, I was hoping someone could help me slim Win2K down. All apps have been moved off C:\. Thanks.

Two things I can think of off the top of my head.
1: Move the swapfile to another partition under My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Options -> Virtual Memory
2: Reduce System File Checker cache size. Open up a cmp prompt and type "sfc /cachesize=x", where x is size in megs. Then type "sfc /purgecache", followed by "sfc /scannow". On my computer the c:\winnt\system32\dllcache folder (hidden by default) contains 224MB in over 1800 files. Reducing this cache can save you a considerable amount of space.

Mark - thanks so much. I picked up about 100 megs. C:\ is reporting 847 MB used, 152 MB free.
One more quick question for you. C and D are on HD0 (2.4 GB). They are both NTFS Basic Partitions. Is there anyway to dynamically take some space form D and allocate to C? I think not, but its worth asking.

U could use PM7x (or possibly System Commander) to resize the partitions, reducing size of D: in favour of C: .
The products) come with clear manuals (how to go about it).

You can also move the temporary internet files from your C: drive to another partition. Open internet options and on the General Tab under "temporary internet files" click on the Settings button to move them. Note: I recommend using a 3d party app like Partition Magic to add another 1 GB to your C: drive. 1 GB for your operating system is not enough.......2 GB's is the minimum I would recommend.

Thanks folks. Changed the the temp internet file setting and I'll check out some of those 3rd party apps to re-allocate some space. Or maybe I'll just bite the bullet and move some of the apps off of there to an E drive. Thaanks again.
