Hi
I have been asked by my boss to automate a reboot everynight of our server. That was pretty straight forward the problem I have is that the reboot obviously does not log back in. I've heard its possible to set up te server so that you actually don't have to log in. Does anyone know how to do this?
Many thanks

You don't need to log in. All services (DNS, DHCP, etc) will still run and all software will still be accessible to users.
In most businesses the servers rarely ever get logged in to from the console. It's better not to and certainly you never want to walk away from a server leaving any user logged in....that kind of access you don't want employees and/or strangers having.

Agreed - many servers have no monitor, keyboard or mouse attached, whether they're locked in a secure place or not.

They also don't reboot the server nightly. That is just plain wrong and contray to standard operating procedures. Servers are to stay up for years without reboots.
Don't know what your boss is thinking this will do for him. If you had a app that needs to be restarted daily [crapola] write a simple script of net stop <service> and net start <service> and schedule it.

restart a server or service every night HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I can only say sack your boss, or yourself for being stupid.
Sorry for that but think about it, you erally think the whole world is restarting the server every night? Would be kinda funny though. WEbserver down from microsoft every night.

oops forgot to give answer
HKEY_LOC_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\curentversion\winlogon,
