Cookies area creation of the web browser and are independent of the OS (in this case win2k) because your web browser is an application, not part of the OS.
With Internet Explorer (IE) ver. 6 Microsoft bowed to consumer pressure (and general intelligence) and finally made it relatively easy to delete cookies by adding a "DELETE COOKIES" button under
Tools > Internet Options > General
Simply go there and hit that button and **poof** away they go.There are also an improved persistent cookie management settings under
Tools > Internet Options > Privacy
which allows you to selectively turn off cookie setting. If you do not desire cookies for convenient logins to secure sites you frequent then a good choice is to reject all cookies (first & third party) and check the "allow session cookies". This will allow webpages to set cookies and track your movement from page to page only as long as you keep a IE window open: when you shutdown IE (even if you remain connected to your ISP) all cookies will be deleted.3rd-party cookie manager software also exists that allows you to permanently set specific cookie permission for each and every website you visit.
