hi, i am a 18 year old student and have set up a small home network, running w2k server as a standalone pc (just machine running some shared folders and sharing internet connection at home).
now for a lot of issues i want to upgrade to a domain which everyone has to log on here at home (all pc's are equipped with w2k or XP por).
my question: is it possible to upgrade my current w2k server version that is just running in a workgroup, and do i have to reinstall?
if so, when, where and how do i have to create the domain?
Can u please give a little explaianation about the things you mention? let's say, i have normal everyday intense user experience with pc.
greets,
Blue

hmmmm, since when is intense "normal", isn't that an oxymoron?
anyway, yes you can "upgrade" to domain. promote the server to dc, set up dns, set up the active dir, then change the clients to log to a domain instead of win log on.
the details are too lenghty to go into here, but it's not too complicated. a good book will go a long way to get you going.

well, ok, thx, (btw, i have some experience with computers, but a little more that someone who sits at the pc every day and only knows where he can find the "microsoft word" button ;) )
greets
