How do I get rid of pop-ups on my computer? When I open up IE all of a sudden 5 browsers open up with adult content. I tried everything to find where the pop-ups are. I used spy sweeper, ad-aware, and window washer to clean the computer of cookies or traces, but still the pop-ups come up when I'm on the net. How do I get rid of the pop-ups?

I would suggest you search the registry for "http". You'll find many instances of this in the registry. Remove then ones that refer to search sites that aren't run of the mill, one's like yahoo, msn and google can be left but one like ewebsearch you can delete. You can also disregard the ones that refer to typed URLS.

http://toolbar.google.com/ Google now has a free toolbar that will block popups. I have not had a popup since I installed it.It also has auto fill options, and you can set it to open new addresses in a new window,etc. I love it. Give it a try, it is free.

You could also disable the Messenger Service. Most of those pop ups come from there. Larry
