Comment:
I have tried to change the name of my system driver (C:\) in Windows2000, but an error promted that "You do not have sufficient rights to perform this operation"
I have administration rights to this machine and I manage to change the name of the other drives.

C is the name of your primary partition which in your case windows operates. It doesn't really matter if its named c or x and i can't see why you would want to change it. But the way you have to do it involves deleting your primary partition in fdisk and create a new one named the name desired by you. This will delete all the stuff on your c partition so i would stick with the good ole c:/ that you have now and save yourself a headache.

If you are in the "My Computer" window right click on the C:\. Then select "rename".
If you have tried this and the message pops up then you'll need to open the Control Panel and click on "Administrative Tools" then on "Computer Management".
Now in the left side of the window you'll see a console tree, if not click on the appropriate button and open it.
Click on the "Disk Management FOLDER". In the upper right hand window Right click on C:\ then on "Propeties". You will now see a small window that will have a "Label" window, type the name you want in this window and close everything.
Summary: well you can change the name of it by right clicking it then /rename but to change the drive letter My computer> Control panel> administrative tools> Computer management> storage> disk management> rig...
