Recently I upgrade my cd writer with a new firmware but after reboot the drive letter of my two HD changed. C (a 4.0 Go master IDE 1)became D
and D (a 850 Mo slave IDE 1) became C.
The problem is that win2000 was a little unstable with this configuration. How to change again the two drive letter ????
Thanks a lot

Change the CD ROM to another letter -- say z. Then change the hard disk to C:. You can change the CD ROM back to D: after doing this.

The method you describe above does NOT WORK for the boot drive, without doing something special.

I want to change my boot drive letter but I keep getting "cannot change boot drive letter". Stupid setup assigned the wrong letter. Called it "F" when it should have been "D".

I have the same exact problem. Win2000 does not allow drive letter reassignment for the drive you boot off of. Does anyone know any solution to this? I am guessing if you take the drive out physically and put it in another machine to change the drive letter mappings...maybe then it might work because you are booting from another machine that has win2k? Anyone know?
