Specs: Windows 2000
How can I upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows XP without harming my computer? I have free wi fi service but it runs slow. I cannot get a smooth running youtube video or any other video because my computer runs too slow. Also, I seem to have lost internet explorer and would like to get it back. I'm working with Mozilla Firefox and I'd like to switch back but can't find IE in my programs list. I'm about as technologically challenged as it gets, so please keep it simple.

First of all, are both posters above the same person? If so, don't do that, it is confusing.

If Windows 2000 runs slow because of outdated hardware then WinXP will be even worse.

Of course, without any information on your computer we can't begin to know if your system can run XP.

You need to post your system specs so we can get an idea of what you're working with. At the very least we need the make/model/speed of your CPU, memory amount, make/model of video card & size of hard drive. If you don't have 512MB memory (or more), I wouldn't bother installing XP.

Yep, as mentioned by OtH above, a newer OS will almost certainly not improve things for you on the same hardware. You may want to look at a newer system if you're having troubles now. If your free WiFi is running properly (albeit slowly), loading the machine down with XP won't help matters.
