There is a set up for hotmail built into outlook express. When you select create new account input the account information and give the hotmail e-mail address it will automatically set up the proper protocols.

It's not possible to retrieve hotmails by programs other than Outlook.

Thanx Dudes done extensive research and found that only Outlook XP allows true POP downloads for Hotmail. All previous versions could retrieve (via a workaround) but not send.

I'l stick to Yahoo, a proper mail server.

Thanx.

Hi All:

Don't think hotmail supports POP.(at least doen't disclose POP address). However it supports HTTP protocol, so outlook express can be configured to send & receive mail.

Ex. outlook express, tools, accounts, mail, add, mail, select your hotmail addrss, select HTTP server, service provider 'hotmail'.

Mailserver (incoming & outgoing) will be defaulted to http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

On the otherhand, Yahoo provides incoming and outgoing POP server names. So can be configured on any mail client. select POP protocol,
Incoming mailserver: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mailservre: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Thx
Sri
