I have a problem with my computer. Every time I open up a blank text editor (ex: Notepad ++, Programmers Notepad 2)(but NOT Notepad), the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom is always showing.

Here's an image showing the problem:

Change the screen resolution to a higher one.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help. (I use 1024 x 768 btw). Do you (or anyone else) have another solution?

That scrollbar indicates that the entire page won't fit on the screen. When typing in the box do you need to scroll sidways to use the program?

Are you sure there is not a "fit to page" option in either of those programs?

Did this suddenly start happening (just wondering if that's how those text editors were intended to work)?

Wow. I've never seen a notepad with that interface. Are you using some sort of add-in?

You might find a "wrap", "fit to Window" or similar in Programmers Notepad 2 as well.

If some of the code is long on one line, yes, I do need to scroll sideways to view the rest of the line. I have word wrap disabled (since that messes up the layout of my code).

I have not found a "fit to page" option in either of these programs.

No, I do not think how these text editors were intended to work.

Hm... maybe I should reinstall these programs... see what happens...

Thanks to everyone, though.

If you do have one line that is wider than the rest, due to font size, then you will see the scroll bar. What happens if you maximize the window?

I see that now, but you've answered your own question. If you don't have word wrap, then whatever you type on that line will be displayed without wrapping. If the sentence doesn't wrap, then you will indeed need to use the scroll bar to show the entire line. That's normal behavior.

Yes, but not on a blank page! It doesn't need the horizontal scroll bar when there's no text that expands beyond the screen.

john what is it you expect the program to do? You have wordwrap disabled, which I understand, but the text or cade needs to go somewhere. The only solution I can think of is to use a smaller font.

Ok. Let me explain. When I open up a blank document, I don't want the horizontal scrollbar to be there. But when I type a long line that expands beyond the page, I need the horizontal scrollbar to appear. Right now, it appears even if I open up a blank page.
