Comment:

As I have Win2k SP3 loaded on a machine on a network which is directly connected to the internet, and this machine shares this connection to the other 6 machines on the same network.
I want to know that how can the programs like registered version of DAP without the icon NOT being shown in the system tray?
In short words, how can be the program run in background without displaying the icon in system tray?
Waiting for some posts....
Thanks in advance....
Pranav.

That depends on the program. Many have an option to hide their own icon. But if they don´t, you are out of luck unless you have Windows XP, which includes an option to hide all icons.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot Andres for the fast reply. The program in question is Download Accelerator Plus 5.3 registered version.
Is there any way to hide the program from system tray,by registry hack or something other?
Waiting for some posts,

Mmmm I don´t use that program. Personally I use the almighty Getright :). So I can´t look for any registry entries that could help you. You checked the options and are sure that there´s no option to hide its icon, right?

Thanks again Andres.I have only one option under the Options/Configuration tab and that is minimize to tray during download. When I select that the icon goes to the system tray.If I dont select that option there is a tab that is always open in the taskbar.

Thanks,

Pranav,

If the app doesn't offer a way to hide itself while it's running, there are other alternatives.

This is a nice applet for hiding windows programs that run in the background:

my question is, why do you want to completely hide it? if its running in the background, you want a way to open it back up. i know you can always just click on the shortcut on the desktop or start menu, but if you have a bunch of windows open and just wanna check the statis of your download, youd want a way to get to it.

Thanks guys for the posts. The reason that I want to hide the application is that I have a cable connection to the internet and the comp is always connected to the internet.I just dont want to cramp up the system tray because if i start 4 downloads simultaneously then totally 5 DAP icons open up in the system tray, which you see may be quite annoying.
Waiting for some posts......
Thanks...
