My Modem (Conexant softk56 PCI) is not compatable with WIN2K - works well with WIN98 - I found drivers on the net for this modem and WIN2K - tried to install it manually as the system doesn't find it when it searches for new plug-and-play hardware - so I select it from the list, point it to the folder where I unzipped the contents of the drivers that I found - there are about 6 ".INF" files in the driver folder and no matter which one I point to it doesn;t install correctly - anyone?

Usually the inf file needed is called setup.inf. You may have to remove the modem from device manager if its listed there and start over. Even if the modem drivers dont work it should at least install them. If the drivers dont work you may get a blue screen on bootup.....requiring you to boot safe mode and remove the modem from device manager. I have not tried to install that paticular modem so I dont know if the drivers do work.

If you want to try different drivers try this site:

(Unless that's where you got them)
