Help Windows will not startup

i tired installing software for a old cd burner and now windows will not start up. the error is stop error ox0000001E i tried to do everything it says to in the book and it still does not work. i can not get into windows.

can any one explained to me how to delete the file with out starting up windows. i think there is a way through dos but i don't know the commands.

the file i need to remove is ntoskrnl.exe.

Try using the W2K CD. Choose the repair option and this should help.

If you remove NTOSKRNL.exe then it's guaranteed that you'll never start up again. You NEED that file, so don't remove it. Follow Matt's advice.
