Please Help! My computer has been acting really screwed up lately, I think something is seriously wrong. I posted this under the windows 2000 forums because there are none for us windows98 users. Anyway, lately, i havent been able to run a lot of files. I downloaded a program called Army Builder and when i try to run the install an error message pops up. "Could not initialize installation. File Size expected=1972043840, File Size returned=1045476. This function is only Valid in Win32 mode." Lately WinMX (a file sharing program like Napster and Kazaa) hasn't been working. I get an error message that reads "File Authentication Failed! The WINMX program file has been damaged and cannot start. You should re-install WINMX. If you still get this message, you should check your computer for viruses." I downloaded the installer for WinMX (i had an out of date version anyway) but when i tried to install it, i got the same message! These arent the only things that havent been going right. If you have any suggestion or ideas as to what the problem is, please help me. Thank you in advance.

I recommend first running the latest virus scan from Norton's or Trend Micro.

If that turns up nothing, it sounds like a Windows 98 problem. There are several ways to diagnose it.

Sounds to me like your hard disk is no longer storing data properly try running scandisk, prefferably from a win98 emergency boot disk (START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS>STARTUP DISK
Also virus check would be a good idea too along with scandisk.P.S. DONT FORGET THE SURFACE SCAN or "Thorough in windows" , from boot disk type SCANDISK C: /AUTOFIX /SURFACE after boot with or without cdrom.
