Help pls
I am getting the error message " svchost has generated errors and will close". i have all of the symptoms of the blaster worm, but the blaster worm fix cant find it on my conputer, and something is preventing me from installing SP2, or SP4 from windows updates. they always say there is an error and the update will exit.

is this a different version of blaster or another virus all together ?

pls post with site ect. I cant do anything on my computer atm.

thanks

Sounds like you have the welchia worm. A variant of blaster.

Go to this web address. I had the same problem, I actually did SP4, but it wouldn't do the rest. Found this fix and was able to finish the critical updates.
GOOD LUCK!!

ok well at this point i have reformated my c drive and erased all partitions. however now when trying to install win2k, an error message pops up saying it cannot copy certain files, specifically a cryptdu.dll. i believe that is the first one it stops on. at this point i have to either quit setup or try to skip that file, which it warns will make windows not run correctly.

what should i do at this point to resolve this ?

I wouild like to simply start fresh, make sure the drive is completly wiped and retry win2k

i dont think my win2k disk is corrupt bc i actually made it through a fresh install last night, but froze on SP4, and SP2 and was unable to delete them bc it said it could not copy certain files just like what i previously described. also after reinstalling it again, i lost all networking stacks so that my only option under networking in control panel was to create a new dial up connection. ive noticed a huge lag in my bandwith also.

is it all related somehow ? is this welchia ? is it somehow staying on my c drive to keep messing me up?

pls help thanks
