I am trying to connect a Win 2000 pc with Win 98 using a patch cable to transfer files. However I am unable to. Do I need to change any settings? Please reply at tshake@yahoo.com thanks Tshake

You'll need a cross-over cable, not a patch cable...

If you have a "HUB" to connect the two PC you can use a noramal/straight cable, But if you don't have any HUB you need to use a cross-over cable(RJ-45).
On the Win2K pc you need to add username and password that you have used or login on the Win98 PC so that Win98 can communicate with the Win2000 PC.

The cable is a crossover cable # RJ-45. I don't have a hub and I am trying to connect 2 pcs (win 2k to win 98) via a network card. When I log into win 98 machine I don't use a login id. Not sure if I need to change any settings. thanks tshake@yahoo.com
