Please help. Every time I connect to the internet an error box says that svchost.exe will be closed by windows. I just recently downloaded windows 2000 professional. Please help me!!!! Thanks.

What firewall do you have installed? Have you installed all the Microsoft "critical updates"? Have you installed your antivirus software and got all the updates for it, and then done a full system virus scan. I think you have picked up the Welchia Worm. Synantec has a removal tool for it at their website http://www.symantec.com/ download area, if your antivirus cannot detect/clean/repair the file.

if it's not welchia, big chance it's good old blaster worm :) remove tool also on symantec.com

I had the same problem and I tried this today: a friend brought me the Cleaner (I think he downloaded from symantec) we run it it found something called "msblast.exe", and removed it. After that from the site of Symantec we got a patch and we run that too. OK so far. then I tried to connect to the Internet and it couldn't see the modem. so I used my antivirus, did a restart and it seems Ok now. Try these and you 'll see
