Comment:

hello,

my computer is acting really weard! When i start it up, everything is just like normal, but then my mouse-cursor just bloks and i can't do anything, but my computer just acts normally.... (when i opened a video for example it just keeps on playing normal)
When the mouse cursor is blocked i'm also unable to typ anything!! the computer doesn't serpond to the keyboard anymore (for example : control alt del doesn't work).

i dont know what to do know, it's really an annoying problem!!!!! and the computer runned win2k without problems the last 4 months!!

i noticed that all files directly under my c:/ folder are resised to the size of 0 KB, that's the problem i guess, because autoexe.bat, config.sys are in there , they are 0kb that isn't normal, isn't it???

i have a pentium III (intel)- 800, 128MB ram, a mitsumi writer, 50x cdrom, ....
HELP ME PLEASE
thx

Sander

(btw, i scanned for virusses and he couldn't find anything, help me!!!)

Firt off it certainly sounds like a virus.

you could have a shorted out mouse that may/or not cause these other simptoms.

The "0 byte" file size is normal. Mine is te same way.

I would consider using a different virus scanner and change the mouse.

Try This One it's free. But first put a different mouse on that unit.

One more thing -- If it's a searial port mouse, try reinstalling the port drivers, or reinstall the motherboard drivers. Maybe even update the Bios from the MB manuf. website.

The last time I got called to fix someone's system with similar problems (ie-the mouse locking up) all I did was swap the positions of a few of his PCI cards. This sometimes is enough to do the trick. I did it on his Win 98 machine and there were no more problems. It has to do with system resources, IRQs, etc. I think.

Maybe doing that will let you use your scrollmouse again.

Then again, maybe not.
